Don’t go anywhere for the Fourth of July holiday weekend; stay right here in Philadelphia! Welcome America has announced its weeklong calendar of fun (and mostly free) events to celebrate our nation’s birthday.
And don’t forget that Philadelphia is one of five sites for the Live8 concert series to raise awareness about world hunger and HIV/AIDS (concerts are also being held in Berlin, London, Paris, and Rome). Performing at this free concert at the Art Museum on July 2 will be such stars as Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Bon Jovi, Sarah McLachlin, P Diddy, Stevie Wonder, Will Smith, and the Dave Matthews Band.
I've pasted some other events below; for the full calendar, go to americasbirthday.com.
