With all due respect to our pastor (who gave yet another fiery sermon) or the choir (very inspired singing), it was a little girl that taught me the most about faith and worship this morning. Barely two, she gleefully raised her hands during the first round of songs to motion to her dad that she wanted to be picked up, and then, that beaming smile still on her face, she let herself be picked up, and then swayed with her dad as he sang the song. As I watched father and daughter, it occurred to me that this is how God wants us to be with Him: happy to be with Him, wanting only to be closer, acknowledging her tininess and being lost in something bigger and greater than herself. We would do well to emulate such a posture.
